We were created to glorify God. Our purpose is to do that by leading the congregation in worshipping the One who is greatly to be praised! (Psalm 150).
Everyone in the band is a “worship leader.”
We are all a part of the body, none more important than another, using our gifts together to inspire and encourage the congregation, with grace, to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth (Romans 12:1-8, John 4:23-24). It is not about performing, but singing and playing to the Lord, our audience of One. Our privilege is to lead people in ceasing to listen to themselves, and instead to sing the Gospel to themselves.
A faithful worship leader
magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ
through the power of the Holy Spirit
by skillfully combining God’s Word with music,
thereby motivating the gathered church
to proclaim the Gospel, to cherish God’s presence,
and to live for God’s glory. *
Our growth is continual and intentional.
We are a people in process. Recognizing that God’s work is ongoing in all of us (Philippians 1:6), we spur one another on to grow stronger in our faith and also in our skills musically.
All we do is for His glory, not ours.
It is all about Him, and not about us. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise (Psalm 47).
